Solo project · Desktop tooling · Built on Microsoft's MarkItDown
A graphical desktop app that wraps Microsoft's MarkItDown library in a Tkinter interface, so converting documents, spreadsheets, presentations, images and audio into clean Markdown doesn't require touching the command line. Styled to match Linux Mint's Cinnamon desktop, with dark/light modes and custom accent colors that persist automatically between sessions. Packages down to a single standalone Linux executable with a bundled Python runtime, so there's nothing to set up manually.
No command line needed. Wraps Microsoft's MarkItDown library in a native Tkinter GUI, converting docs, spreadsheets, presentations, images and audio into clean Markdown in a few clicks.
Built for Linux Mint. Styled with the Mint-Y theme family from Cinnamon, with instant dark/light toggling and a custom accent-color picker, both saved automatically between sessions.
Ships as one executable. Packaged as a single standalone Linux binary via PyInstaller with a bundled Python runtime. Optional features like audio transcription degrade gracefully if a dependency like ffmpeg isn't present.
A note on compatibility: tested on Debian-based and Arch-based Linux distributions.
